Saving and restoring
The indicators on your chart, and the scripts you save, are kept when you close the app.
Indicators on the chart
Every indicator on the chart, built-in and script, with its settings, is saved a moment after each change and comes back when the app starts. This includes whether it is collapsed, hidden or locked.
- They are restored only at startup, and only onto an empty chart, so they cannot pile up on top of ones you already added.
- If the saved file cannot be read, nothing is restored and nothing is written over it.
- The file is
active_indicators.jsonin the app data folder (on Windows,%APPDATA%\com.onplayfx.barreplay\). It is written to a temporary file first and then renamed, so a crash cannot leave half a file.
Saved scripts
Save (Ctrl S) puts the script in your library: <app data>/scripts/<id>.json. It then shows under Open ▾ → Saved and in the Indicators list under My scripts. The × beside a saved script deletes it.
A library is an ordinary saved script that begins with library("Name"). Scripts that import it find it among your saved scripts, at startup and again whenever you save or delete one.
A script on the chart carries its own source. Chart templates, undocked chart windows and the indicator list all work without looking anything up, and editing the saved copy later does not silently change a script already on the chart.
Replay sessions and templates
Which scripts are on a chart is not saved inside a replay session (nor are the built-in indicators). To keep a particular set, save a chart template.
