Themes
Every colour in the app, and the chart's, defined in one place. The Themes page is at the bottom of the rail.
Using one
Click a theme in the list. The whole app changes at once, the chart included, and the choice is remembered. There are five built in: Ink (true black with amber, the default), Graphite (dark), Daylight (light), Midnight (blue-tinted dark) and Paper (warm light with dark ink outlines and a green accent). In a session, the theme list is also in Chart layout.
Making your own
- Pick the theme closest to what you want and press Make a copy (or New from this theme).
- Change any colour: type a hex value or click the swatch for a palette. Everything updates as you go, this page included, and it is saved as you go.
- The colours are grouped: Surfaces (recessed, ground, raised, pressed), Lines, Text, Accent and signals (accent, profit, loss, caution), six Chart series colours, and the Chart itself (background, candles, wicks, grid).
- Tints behind coloured text, the stop and target lines and the focus ring are worked out from these, so changing the accent changes everywhere it shows.
Legibility
A panel on the page checks the pairs that matter against recognised contrast ratios: primary text 7:1, other text 4.5:1, and accent, profit, loss and caution colours 3:1, all against the ground, plus the outline colour. A failing row is marked in amber with its ratio, so you can see a problem before you live with it. It advises; it never blocks.
Share and keep
Export writes a theme to a .theme.json file; Import reads one. An imported file is checked: a colour that is missing or not a hex value is replaced by the matching colour from the light or dark base, so a damaged file cannot leave anything invisible. The built-in themes are fixed; delete only removes your own.
Choosing a theme gives every chart that theme's candle, wick, background and grid colours. The built-in themes draw candles in black and white: on a dark background a rising candle is white and a falling one is dark with a white outline, and the reverse on a light background. A single chart can still override them from its own Properties, and Reset to defaults in Chart layout brings back the theme's.
These colours are not part of a theme. The Buy button is bright blue and the Sell button bright red in every theme, so the two can always be told apart, including in a theme whose accent is amber.
A chart floated into its own window and the pop-out analytics window follow the theme too.
