Play only some sessions
Practise the hours you actually trade. Pick the market sessions to play, and the replay skips everything else, quickly.
Choosing sessions
- In New session, tick Play only these sessions: Asia, London, New York and Off-hours. The hours beside each are on your data's clock, so for Kenyan-clock data New York reads 15:00 to 00:00. Nothing ticked plays every bar.
- During a session, the clock button at the right end of the playback bar (it shows a code such as NY) opens the same choices, so you can change your mind without restarting.
- The skip button beside it, or N, leaves the current session at once and lands just before the next one opens.
What a skip does
A skip is not a jump over unseen history. Every skipped bar still runs through the engine, so stops, targets, pending orders and a challenge's limits act on it exactly as if you had watched it. Only the drawing and the waiting are skipped, and playback stops by itself at the end of the data.
A trade still open when the session ends
| Choice | What happens |
|---|---|
| Let it run | Playback carries on bar by bar, session or not, until the trade ends, then skips ahead. A trade opened by a resting order during a skip also stops the skip, so you see it. |
| Close it at the session end | The trade closes at the session's last bar, marked Session end in the trade list, and any resting orders are cancelled, since they belonged to the session that ended. |
Good to know
Sessions are fixed real-time windows (Asia 00–07, London 07–12, New York 12–21 UTC), the same as in the analytics. On a daily chart every bar covers every session, so nothing is skipped. See Data and the clock for setting the data's time zone.
